Sexual Disorders

Sexual dysfunction, affecting 43% of women and 31% of men, can be categorized into four types:

  1. Desire Disorders:
    • Lack of sexual interest or desire.
  2. Arousal Disorders:
    • Inability to become physically aroused or excited during sexual activity.
  3. Orgasm Disorders:
    • Delay or absence of orgasm.
  4. Pain Disorders:
    • Pain during intercourse.

Symptoms of Sexual Dysfunction:

In People Assigned Male at Birth:

  • Erectile Dysfunction (inability to achieve or maintain an erection).
  • Absent or delayed ejaculation.
  • Inability to control the timing of ejaculation (premature ejaculation).

In People Assigned Female at Birth:

  • Inability to achieve orgasm.
  • Inadequate vaginal lubrication.
  • Inability to relax vaginal muscles for intercourse.

In Everyone:

  • Lack of interest in or desire for sex.
  • Inability to become aroused.
  • Pain with intercourse.

Gender Dysphoria

Gender dysphoria is distress due to a misalignment between gender identity and assigned gender or sex-related physical characteristics. Symptoms include a marked difference in gender identity, a desire to change gender characteristics, and a belief in typical feelings and reactions of another gender.
